Henderson Returns to Western Cape Cricket

The Nashua Cape Cobras today revealed that Claude Henderson will be returning to Western Cape Cricket. The slow left arm bowler and right hand batsman returns from a lengthy stint with English County Cricket side Leicestershire.

Henderson was born in Worcester and represented Boland before signing up with Western Province in 1998/99. He was then called up for the Proteas in 2001, playing his first game for South Africa against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo, before joining Leicestershire in England as a Kolpak player. To date, Henderson holds a healthy first class career record with 654 wickets at an average of 31.57. His best bowling figures are 7 for 57 and has a handy 18.93 average with the bat, which includes thirteen fifties.

Nashua Cape Cobras coach, Shukri Conrad, said he's excited about the signing and said, "a player of Claude's experience and calibre is a huge asset for the Nashua Cape Cobras and I hope his experience will rub off on! some of the young Cobras spinners we are busy grooming. I am excited to see how others will learn from his abilities."

The Nashua Cape Cobras kick off their season in the Supersport Series with an away match against the Gestetner Diamond Eagles at the De Beers Diamond Oval in Kimberley on 2 October. Pre-season preparations start with a tour match against the Warriors in Oudtshoorn from 15-22 September.
