Paralympic medal onslaught continues


Tomorrow the Paralympics come to and end after 11 days of enthralling viewing. Hilton Langenhoven has become a local hero. The athlete who hails from Somerset West has added a third gold medal to his medal tally when he won the 200m T13 title in 21.94 seconds.

Veteran Fanie Lombard continued to show his dominance at the Paralympics when he won the men's discus F42 final in 46.75m. Lombard has become one of the most prolific Paralympians. He has now won a total of eight gold medals in four Paralympics games.

South Africa can continue the medal haul later today. First up is Fanie Van der Merwe, he will be running in the Men's 200m - T37 Final. Ilse Hayes will take to the track in the Women's 100m - T13 Final A. Then Jonathan Ntutu will race after in the Men's 200m - T13 Final A and last on the track is none other than the Blade Runner Oscar Pistorius. He will take part in the Men's 400 - T44. Pistorius holds the world record in this ! event and it seems likely that he will get his hands in his third and final gold medal at the games. As he dominated in his heats and finished first.
